“我也不知道為什么，那天早上一起床就忽然想到老師應(yīng)該有自己的節(jié)日。”教師節(jié)的最早創(chuàng)意人、中科院院士王梓坤教授這樣說。
那是1984年12月9日，王教授當(dāng)天就把這個想法告訴了《北京晚報》。第二天，《北京晚報》就刊出文章《王梓坤校長建議開展尊師重教月活動》，引起了讀者強烈反響。12月15日，北師大鐘敬文、啟功、王梓坤、陶大鏞、朱智賢、黃濟、趙擎寰聯(lián)名，正式提議設(shè)立教師節(jié)。1985年1月21日，第六屆全國人大常委會第九次會議作出決議，將每年的9月10日定為教師節(jié)。其實早在1932年，國民黨政府曾規(guī)定6月6日為教師節(jié)，解放后廢除了6月6日的教師節(jié)，改用“五一國際勞動節(jié)”同時為教師節(jié)，但教師沒有單獨活動，沒有特點。而將教師節(jié)定在9月10日是考慮到全國大、中、小學(xué)新學(xué)年開始，學(xué)校要有新的氣象。新生入學(xué)伊始，即開始尊師重教，可以給“教師教好、學(xué)生學(xué)好”創(chuàng)造良好的氣氛。1985年9月10日，是中國恢復(fù)建立第一個教師節(jié)，而從此以年，老師便有了自己的節(jié)日。
